{"id":149,"date":"2014-10-16T10:40:48","date_gmt":"2014-10-16T14:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gingerwarner.net\/?p=149"},"modified":"2019-06-25T14:50:59","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T18:50:59","slug":"do-whatever-he-tells-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/gingerwarner.net\/?p=149","title":{"rendered":"I was so certain&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>There was a time in my life when I was certain<\/strong> <strong>I would never work for a church.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em> I was a business person only, I thought.\u00a0 I was happy with my secular job and volunteering.\u00a0 Then God arranged the circumstances in such a way that it was apparent working in ministry was my next step.\u00a0 (How many Singles Ministry Director\/Real Estate Project Manager positions can there be in the world?)\u00a0 And I jumped.<\/p>\n<p>And I have loved it.\u00a0 I have loved the people and the opportunity to have a front row seat to life change.<\/p>\n<p>Then I was positive that working in ministry would be my vocation forever more.\u00a0 But God has presented me with the next step and I have been called, unmistakably, to the secular workplace again.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>When the wine was gone, Jesus\u2019 mother said to him, \u201cThey have no more wine.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><strong><em><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>\u201cWoman,<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>why do you involve me?\u201d<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Jesus replied.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u201cMy hour<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>has not yet come.\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n<em>His mother said to the servants, \u201cDo whatever he tells you.\u201d\u00a0 John 2<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That \u201cmore than you can ask or imagine\u201d is totally wonderful, but often completely blind-sides you with bigger changes that you ever dreamed.\u00a0 More than a few years ago, I knew I was not to date while my kids were in high school, but during that time, our family became even stronger, their faith became more their own, and God blessed us in more ways than I can describe.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I have found that when I follow Him into circumstances only He could create, the blessings are abundant and profound<\/strong><\/em>, and I have more opportunity to testify to His faithfulness and His goodness.\u00a0 It\u2019s always humbling (as I have frequently followed Him while questioning His navigation skills) and yet completely rewarding and even fun as I see <em><strong>wherever He leads is someplace He\u2019s already prepared for me and prepared me for.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I used to think I could do a reasonable job of predicting the next steps for my life.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0 How each move in my career would lead to the next. \u00a0That I could use my &#8220;vast experience&#8221; to forecast my future.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>But He makes the best wine.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u201cThey did so,<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.
